Recreational and Progression Package
Beginning Windsurfers: Look here for everything you will need in one package. Boards that will be stable and friendly. Sails that are friendly to beginning and intermediate windsurfers. Longboards and hybids
These boards have centerboards and are much better in lighter wind and better for people starting out. Also included in this category is the Starboard Serenity, a light air machine. This board is quite fast in light wind 2-11 knots and SOO efficent through the water! Not really suited for beginning windsurfers. But this board is one of my favorites. Buy all the components at once and save $$$$$! If you don't see the combination you would like, let me know and we will put it together for you.
Masts
With masts, there are two main distinctions, length and carbon content. The lengths of masts are typically every 30cm. 400, 430, 460, 490 and so on. A mast is purchased to fit a sail so the length is determined by the sail. The carbon content of the mast is a little different. The grades are measured in percentages. Roughly 30%,55%,75% and 100%. The differences is the higher the carbon content, the less the masts weighs. The less the mast weighs, the less fatuiging it is to windsurf. Also typically your sail reacts better as you move up in carbon content. 100% carbon masts are extremely light, but typically used just by racers as they are much more expensive. 75% carbon are high quality masts and this is typically the best mast for recreational use for the wieght, durability and price. 55% carbon masts are good mast with price more of a factor. Still lighter than a 30% and cheaper than a 75%. Good in smaller sizes, but above 460, I would have to recommend 75% carbon mast. 30% carbon masts are cheap, price is the main concern. Expoxy masts are heavy, and in my opinion, not worth buying at all. I don't sell them. Spend the Money for a better mast, you will be happier, for sure. Mast Extensions and Bases
There are two main different designs of mast extensions, base cup and euro pin. If starting from the beginning, I would recommend Euro-pin as it is easier to deal with. Harnesses and Harness Lines
